Guyana’s Digital Transformation Driven by AI

AI assistant for Government services

President Dr. Irfaan Ali has announced a national digital platform designed to modernize public services and embed artificial intelligence (AI) across government, education, health, and infrastructure.

At the heart of this initiative is AskGov, Guyana’s official AI assistant. Available 24/7, AskGov will handle queries, process applications, renew licences, and deliver official documents—all powered by generative AI to reduce bureaucracy and speed up services.

AI will also transform key sectors. In education, students and teachers will gain access to personalized, interactive learning. In healthcare, AI will assist in diagnosing diseases and tracking public health trends. Citizens nationwide will benefit from real-time, AI-enabled support for everyday services such as passports, IDs, tax filing, and bill payments.

An AI-driven Geographic Information System (GIS) will map and monitor infrastructure like roads, bridges, and utilities in real time, enhancing planning, emergency response, and smart city development.

Cybersecurity and responsible AI use will be prioritized, with strong encryption, secure cloud hosting, and global best practices to protect citizens’ data. AI-powered surveillance, smart traffic systems, and environmental sensors will improve safety, reduce congestion, and support cleaner communities.

The platform will be developed through public-private collaboration and integrated with financial and private-sector services via a secure API gateway. Plans also include building digital infrastructure to host services for other regions, positioning Guyana as a regional leader in AI-driven digital transformation.

“Digital Guyana is our roadmap to a better future,” President Ali said, affirming the government’s goal of making Guyana a fully digital nation within five years.
